Industrias Roko is a company based in the North of Spain, Oviedo, Asturias and was estalished in 1955 as an Agar manufacturer taking advantage of the seaweed presence and exploitation in the Spanish Atlatic coast. The Roko company supplies different types of agar to non-food (Microbiology, Pharmaceutical) and food customers worldwide and exports to an average of 40 countries evey year being a reference for quality and wide range of agar types for the industry.

Agar is used for its technical properties such as a gelling agent, stabilizer and thickener but also because of its nutritional benefits: it is a 100% marine vegetable gum and is accepted for use in Kosher, Halal and Organic food, it is an excellent fibre source (only 10% of Agar is digestible) and therefore, is highly suitable as an ingredient of dieting meals due to its satiating effect.
