The company has developed into a recognised centre of excellence in biopolymer/polysaccharide chemistry servicing the manufacturer and user alike. By publishing a quarterly technical review, as well as their own web site, CyberColloids has become a reference for the hydrocolloid industry and currently has many industrial partners with long-term commitments.
The people, who make the polysaccharide science and technology team at Cybercolloids world-class, have amongst their achievements the first commercial xanthan process in the world, accepted models for the solution and gel properties of most of the industrial hydrocolloids approved for food use, and breakthroughs in galactomannan stucture function understanding and development.
CyberColloids co-operate and share resources where possible, and build networks of experts and Centres of Excellence to create value and innovate cost effectively.
Through this combination of in-house and "out-sourced" facilities, and core and associate staff, CC can work flexibly to meet all the demands of polysaccharide production, characterization and scale up.
CyberColloids proximity to University College Cork and the Dairy Product Research Centre is an important enabler in the CyberColloids infrastructure.
The proximity of Reading, Coleraine and Cork also draws advantage from this "open innovation" approach. It is this expertise which is so critical to the characterisation and production of novel LMWPs from agar and alginate for in vitro and in vivo testing.
